This tutorial may help you understand information provided on the General tab of View Page Info in Firefox.

1. Run Firefox and visit www.paypal.com Web site. You see PayPal home page showing up.

2. Right-mouse click anywhere on the page. You see Firefox context menu showing up.

3. Click "View Page Info" menu item. You see "Page Info" screen showing up.

4. Click "General" tab. You see general information displayed for this PayPal page like:

  • "Address: https://www.paypal.com/home" - The "https" part of the address tells you that this site is using a secure communication protocol to connect your computer and the site server.
  • "This website is owned by PayPal, Inc." - This tells you that the owner name on the site server certificate is "PayPal, Inc.".
  • "This has been verified by VeriSign, Inc." - This tells you that the site server certificate is signed by "VeriSign, Inc.",
  • "Connection Encryption: High-grade Encryption (AES-256, 256 bit keys)" - This tells you that the data sent back and forth between your computer and the PayPal server is encrypted with the AES-256 algorithm.
